Development Paradigm: Industrial Sector

Determination of leading economic sectors of national and regional development is the first step towards that is grounded in the concept of efficiency to achieve a comparative advantage and competitive in the face of globalization of trade. The main requirement of the progress of development is the transformation of economic structure of the primary economic sector (agriculture) to secondary economic sectors (industry) and tertiary economic sectors (services).

The transformation economic structures for developing countries is indicated by changes in real economic sectors that dominate the economy as a whole. Marked with the diminishing role of agriculture, livestock and fisheries sector to the industrial processing or manufacturing industry.

Currently, Indonesia has entered a new phase of industrial countries with the reduced role of agriculture as a pillar of the economy and was replaced by the industrial sector began to dominate.

But that really should worry about is the industry inequality that occurred in Indonesia that will ultimately disrupt the development process itself.

The development of industrial sectors that tend to be on the western Indonesia is not directly create the gap between the western region with the eastern region of Indonesia. Industrial activity mainly centered on the island of Java and Sumatra, this two region also serve as commercial zones in Indonesia. Meanwhile, eastern region of Indonesia lag far behind in the fields of industry, this is the one who should receive serious attention from the government if it wanted to Indonesia’s economic development process a success. Development of the industrial sector should be more spread among regions taking into account the potential that exists in every region in Indonesia, because if only Java and Sumatra that became the locomotive in the industrial field it will create a kind of acute dependence between regions in Indonesia. Industry must be able to advance all areas in Indonesia
